This new site is dedicated to providing a portal for all information regarding to hiking, biking, paddling and any other outdoor trail activity. We hope to be your portal to many trips, and a helpful guide when choosing your gear. There are a lot of websites out there offering information on gear and trips, so what makes this one any different? Keep reading to find out!
At iTrailhead we are not trying to sell you anything. We are simply giving you our honest opinions from our own experiences. That's it, nothing else. We will not allow our reviews to be biased by any advertisers, if we ever even sell advertisements. We also aren't going to tease you with the introduction of a review only to make you subscribe to see the whole review. We believe that our reviews themselves will have you returning to the site, and no gimmicks are needed.
While we recognize the need to maintain reviews of the newest gear, we will not overlook gear that can be homemade. Most sites only review commercial gear, and others give instructions on how to make your own gear. We believe that comparing commercial gear to homemade gear only serves to better both the commercial gear and the homemade designs. That is why we will review gear that is "assembly required".
As you can see, we feel the gear reviews are an essential part of this site. They are not however the only important aspect of iTrailhead. Since we are not simply trying to get you to buy someone's gear, we do not abandon you once you've bought the gear. Our "Trip Planning" section will help you avoid some of the common pitfalls we have encountered in preparing trips. It will also give you tips, tricks, and techniques on how to improve your trips. This is not meant to be a beginners section of the site, but rather a section that both the beginner and seasoned adventurer can both find useful.
That's a lot of work, but we won't stop there. We also will have reviews of our trips to help you decide on yours. It is very easy to get stuck in a rut. Always taking trips to the same venue. You try somewhere new, only to find that it isn't what you had expected. That's where the "Trip Reviews" section come in to play. The ability to read real world accounts of trips to the destinations will help guide you in deciding if a given trip is for you. Finding out a trip is all hype is bad enough, finding out while on that trip is even worse.
So there you have it. Does that make it worth returning to iTrailhead.com? We shure hope so. At any rate, we hope you have a great time on the trail.
